Navy League Vanguard Branch & Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps (#18) Vanguard
~ RCSCC VANGUARD HAS COMPLETED THEIR PARADE YEAR AND ARE NOW LOCATED AT THEIR BOATHOUSE, EVERY TUESDAY, AT ASHBRIDGES BAY VANGUARD BOATHOUSE AT COXWELL/LAKESHORE. THEY MEET FROM 600PM-900PM. YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME BY.
The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps is a youth program for ages 12-19 and is delivered in partnership by The Navy League of Canada and the Department of National Defence. The Sea Cadet program is an exciting program that provides opportunities and challenges relevant for today's youth. The program fosters the development of leadership skills, good citizenship and physical fitness.
While the program introduces cadets to 'what' the Navy is all about, Cadets are not members of the Canadian Forces and are free to leave the program at any time.
In addition to making life-long friends and enjoying experiences they just can't get anywhere else, cadets learn valuable life-skills like leadership, teamwork, self-discipline, organization and effective communication. Our program prepares today's youth to become tomorrow's community leaders. In a 2003 article, Money Sense magazine listed the Canadian Cadet program as one of the top ten ways "To Build a Better Kid". |
The Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps helps youth to realize their potential, and provides an opportunity for them to flourish.
From September to June, Sea Cadets participate in local training one evening per week. All Sea Cadet Corps are also required to conduct a minimum of 4 weekend activities throughout the year. Most corps augment this with optional activities on alternate weeknights and weekends.
Sea Cadets get to participate in a great variety of activities, including many experiences that are unique to this program.
RCSCC Vanguard is located in the heart of Toronto and is easily accessible by car or transit.
Navy League Vanguard Branch is the sponsor of RCSCC Vanguard and is made up of volunteers who freely donate their time to organizing fundraising events, transportation, equipment and a whole lot more. Vanguard Branch is more than happy to have new members and volunteers join and help. The Parade Building belongs to HMCS York and they support our program by allowing us to utilize this marvelous building for our regular Parade nights, extracircular events and activities.
RCSCC Vanguard is always accepting 'new recruits', Officer staff and Navy League Vanguard Branch volunteers. If you would like further information please contact us or drop in on the first Tuesday of any month.
